Why Yosef did not reveal his identity

Why was it necessary for Yosef to go through the whole charade with his brothers? Why could he have not told them straight off that he was their brother?

The pasuk says that Yosef remembered his dreams, and therefore spoke tough to them. (I.e. he was acting out of pure motives, not for revenge). The kinderlach suggested that had the brothers known he was Yosef they would never have treated him as a king; rather they would have palled around with him. Yosef understood that his job was to be a king to them, so he had to keep them in the dark.

Another thought I had was that the dream Yosef had indicated that as the brothers were gathering wheat into bundles suddenly each bundle turned and bowed to Yosef without the brothers wishing it. This indicated they were bowing to Yosef without choosing to, something which could best be done if the brothers did not know he was Yosef.
