Why so little?

When all the food had been used up, Yaakov asked his sons, the brothers of Yosef, to go down to Egypt and bring back “Me’at ochel”, a bit of food. Why so little?

The kinderlach said that a tzaddik only asks for a little because he does not like asking from people.

Perhaps too they had already told Yaakov that the ruler would not allow them through without their brother. However Yaakov was suggesting that maybe for just a small bit of grain they would allow them even without Binyamin. (And to this Yehuda replied that the man clearly warned us we could not even see his face without our brother, so we can not even step into the door!).
