What’s A Holy Time?

The Siddur text reads; This is the song of praise of the Seventh Day, upon which Hashem rested from all His work, and the Seventh day itself praises and sings; “Mizmor Shir L’yom HaShabbos!”. This seems to indicate that Shabbos is a being, an entity who can sing and praise. It is a live being, not merely a dimension of our own existence. Time can exist without matter, (apologies to Mr. Einstein,) for it is itself a creature. When Shabbos approaches we make contact with that organism, and live within it. We modify our behavior to its dictates, and behave appropriately. Someone who does not is not merely disregarding Hashem’s word, but is also engaged in disruptive behavior.
