What to ask for on Rosh Hashanah

On the day of Hashem’s coronation here on earth, Rosh Hashanah, the day when He started acting as King, Hashem expresses the keenest interest in the world, and in making it a perfect place. That is why Din = judgment is so much a part of the day’s nature. I think this idea is expressed in the prayer; we start off asking for His kingdom to come and then continue by expressing how as a result of that, all wickedness will simply melt away. The Zohar says that personal petitions are out of place on Rosh Hashanah, it’s a time to focus only on Hashem. But therein lays, perhaps, the greatest petition of all. For if He will truly take charge here, then the world will be a place of justice, and a place of happiness!
