Shabbos, The Badge

What is the badge of Shabbos? How is it a sign of honor?

We explained that Shabbos means Hashem lends us His personal day of rest for us to rest in, sort of like loaning us His bed! Mordechai was honored by using the king’s royal clothes and horse. I suppose this conferred upon him the status of something like an equal to the king. So too, Hashem honors us with letting us use His very own day of rest. Rashi

Just as T’fillin is jewelry, a medal of honor, so is Shabbos a badge. That’s why we don’t wear T’fillin on Shabbos, because we are already wearing a badge. (Did you ever see a police officer wearing two badges?)
