Practically Joking

In general, the impression is left that Hashem was toying with Paroh and playing a deliberate practical joke on him. The signs he sent were deliberately weak and somewhat ambiguous. In fact, the Makos, at least at first, were things Paroh could even reproduce himself! Indeed, everything was staged so as to appear that Hashem was no more than yet another one of the many Gods that existed in Paroh’s parade of Gods. A game was beingplayed with Paroh, making a fool of him. Can we say it better than the pasuk; Asher Hisolalti B’Mitzrayim!
