Plauge of Blood, how it was

How was the Makkah of blood? The blood was all over Egypt; probably even in the houses of the Jews. One of the kinderlach stated that only when a Jew began drinking did it turn back to water. (Why did he chance drinking it?!) What about blood that was originally blood, for instance if someone cut his finger, did that turn to water too, or was the “miracle blood” different substantially? Were the Egyptians buying what looked like blood in the hope it would turn water? We suggested that perhaps indeed only water belonging to an Egyptian turned blood. But as soon as an Egyptian would pick up a Jew’s water it would become his, and turn to blood. However if he would buy it from a Jew, the money would get the “kedushah” of the water in a similar way that the kedushah of maser fruit transfers onto money given in its exchange, (the Egyptian’s coins became “blood-money”!) and the water would not turn to blood!
