Initiating Conversation

“Motzei dibas ha’arretz” Rashi explains that the term Motzai Dibah is unusual. It refers to initating a flow of talk, either for good or for bad.

So the sin of the Meraglim was not necessarily in what they had actually said. Rather they sparked conversations, people all over the camp began talking, debating the merits and demerits of Eretz Yisroel and questioning the wisdom of going there. This is many times more significant than the words they themselves spoke.

So its both for good and for bad; keep away from sparking Lashon Hara discussions, and do try to initiate discussions of Mitzvos.
