In every language

Shoftim – judges of the supreme court – had to know all seventy languages. Why was that necessary, – couldn’t they afford an interpreter should the need arise? Some of the kinderlach suggested that the interpreter might not always be in town, he may be unavailable at times, so we try not to rely on him. I suggested that things lose precise meaning in the translation and the interpretation, so the court made every effort to hear the words of the litigants in their original language.
