Illusions

When Sichon, king of Emori, refused to allow the Jews to transverse his land, but rather marched out at the head of his troops, it seemed not a very encouraging sign, to say the least. However Hashem said to Moshe “See, behold! I have started giving Sichon into your hands!” Although we may not have seen things in this light, nevertheless the truth was that this was Sichon’s downfall. His aggressiveness forced a fight that we won. Not always are things are as they seem.
