Harmony when it comes to serving Hashem

We asked why indeed it that the Avnet of the Cohanim were made of shatnez? Was there something special about shatnez which makes it extra good for doing the Avodah with them? Perhaps a direction is that the Zohar explains the prohibition of “kil’ayim”, shatnez of the clothes, as deriving from the basic, diverse upper (spiritual) roots of wool and linen. They are not to act in harmony, for they are different to the bone. They are too far apart for them to act in unison. This may bear explanation perhaps, but we have here the general scheme. In Korbanos, perhaps we want an expression of the fact that even the most diverse elements in the universe join forces to serve Hashem. This underscores the supremacy of Hashem, where in His service all those involved lose their personal characteristics to be subjugated to the common purpose of serving Him. So we specifically seek to put together these two warring factions in order to illustrate how all is nullified before Him.

(I believe we find a similar idea by the Makkah of Barrad, hail, where there was an extra Kiddush Hashem by the fact that fire and water made peace between themselves, i.e. negated their particular natures for the higher purpose of doing Hashem’s will).

Perhaps we can take a clue too, and set aside our differences when serving Hashem is at stake!
