What’s the message here? Perhaps we would expect that after Billam and Balak tried so hard to curse the Jews, yet could not do it, they would realize that Hashem loved His People, helps those who He loves, is cognizant of what is going on in our world and takes action to intervene. All the great truths are to be learnt! Certainly Billam would be affected; he had even seen his donkey talk! Yet none of this happened. “Billam returned to his place and even Balak went on his way”, total loss.

There is a lesson here to us; it’s not the experience, but the learning done out of it, – and the willingness to learn and change, – that ultimately counts.
